Martin reprised the role when Big Finish commited the play to audio in 2008. He had previously played a Time Lord in the serial The War Games. Talking to David Richardson in 2003, Martin noted, “We’d already had three different Doctors, who each had their own approach. So provided one played it — I was going to say seriously! — without sending it up, it was up to you really. You were your own Doctor.”
He was a stalwart of stage and screen, with other genre credits including the voice of a beast in Krull and Professor Capra in the Big Finish 7th Doctor audio Flip-Flop.
Martin guested at the Capitol convention, and a DVD of an interview carried out there is being released shortly on the Myth Makers label from Reeltime Pictures.
